Just a quick post to let you know that I'm not dead yet, I'm just VERY busy studying for a VERY VERY hard exam that I will take on january.I'm sad because I let my crafty life for a moment but I hope this would worth it.

In other things, this year I didn't make it in time to participate in the sew mama sew giveaway (again). I always start the year thinking about that and then when I see the blog ,the event has already begun! X( .Well, I hope I finally can participate next year.

And speaking of which, I'm preparing myself for the next and first blog event of "Our World, Our Art" that Lisa Swifka will be holding (the creator of "One World One Heart" that this year had over 1000 participants!) .Anyone who have an artsy spirit can participate, see more info here!

Once I finish my exam, I will retake the "Pay it forward" thing that I MUST to acomplish too!! I will make really cute things that nobody could refuse to participate =p.

Hi again!!

Long time no see uh? This summer I went to a place near my city called "Zacatlan de las manzanas" in the beautiful state of Puebla. Here some photos!

This town's name literally means "Zacatlan of apples" because there's a lot of apples everywhere!

These days they sell apple pies, apples with caramel, chocolate or chili.Apple's wine, apple's marmalade, apple's sauce, apple's soda, everything with apples! I eat a baked apple.Very delicious! =9

These days I was practicing my crochet skills and I searched through many patterns. I found a magazine with this cute bear pattern.His name is Bernard and is supposed to be brown but at that moment I haven't had brown yarn (I said it right?) , so I used blue.

Estos días he estado practicando mis habilidades crochetiles y busqué por muchos patrones. Encontré una revista que traía este lindo patrón de oso. Su nombre es Bernard y se supone que debe ser de color café pero no tenía estambre café así que usé azul.

Just a quick post to say that I'm shocked for the disaster in Japan. I'm glad that almost every japanese ladies I follow in blogosphere are Ok, I'm waiting news from Jo, at Chubby Hobby.
I hope this tragedy can pass as soon as possible. Let's pray for Japan.

The postman has been very busy these days, with all these very expected packages.I was very lucky to have won these beautiful prizes!
The first is this piece of art from Lisa at pritistudio.I have hung it on the wall already, but my cat seems to look at it with malice ...maybe I need to think another place.

El cartero ha estado muy ocupado estos días, con todos estos paquetes tan esperado. Tuve mucha suerte por haber ganado estos hermosos premios!!

I really love these gifts!!

The name of the book is " Creative is a verb" and it really has touched me. The author is Patti Digh and she says that "we minimize ourselves in so many ways, and stop ourselves from living our most creative life.....We learn to diminish the bright light we bring into the world, to make it smaller, to hide it, put a shade on it.We do it for many reasons: to raise others up, to avoid comparisons, to minimize the fall when we fail, to protect and explain and rationalize and, it seems, to cover. "
The book is full with beautiful quotes that makes you think like "Don't apologize for who you are or the art you create- C.J. Rider-" .
and you know what? it is true!! Sometimes people ask me "what do you do?" and I say, "Oh, nothing really, just simple things, notebooks and pouches, nothing". Like if my creations are not important, nothing to be considerated as a real job! what happen to me?? I'M AN ARTIST!! Maybe not a great one, but I try everyday to improve myself.
I really needed this book!! Thank you so much for this Janet (and to the author of course)

Como si mis creaciones no fueran importantes, nada digno de ser considerado un trabajo de verdad! que me pasa??? SOY UNA ARTISTA! Tal vez no una grande, pero todos los días me esfuerzo por mejorar.

Realmente necesitaba este libro!!! Gracias Janet (y a la autora por supuesto!)

My second One World One Heart

Is that time of the year again!! I am very happy to participate again in this fun event. I hope with all my heart that will not be the last! I love being able to discover new blogs and nice people last year and I hope this time may be the same!

Ok, I returned from my vacation. Now I have renewed energy to continue creating cute things.

My first time at crocheting!

This quick post is to say Hi! and to let you know that now I'm obssesed with crocheting, I love it!!! I always thought that I was unabled to learn because I believed that was very hard but now look at me! I learned!!! XD

El dia de muertos is here!

Next November 2nd will be "Dia de muertos" (day of dead) and everywhere you can see sugar and chocolate skulls, cempasuchitl flowers, pumpkins, "pan de muerto" (a kind of sweet bread).
I love this celebration because all is full of color and tradition! XD

Tutorial: fabric flower

Today I want to show you how to make this little fabric flower.
Start with a fabric square about 10 x 10 cm, the size is to your liking.I have previously folded the square in four to mark the center.Begin with the wrong side of the fabric, this will be the "back" of the flower.

begin to fold the corners toward the center.To keep it in place, use small stitches.

The four corners folded:

View of the other side (the "front side":

fold one side to the center and continue using small stitches:

And repeat with the four sides

Now take one of the corners and fold slightly outward to form the petals.(God, is hard to explain this ^^u)

Repeat in the four "corners" until you have the flower.

Sew the corners in the back

That's it! you can embellish it with beads, buttons, etc.

I hope you like this mini-tutorial, inspired in origami flowers ^^. I hope that my english is clear enough .

I don't know how to call it but this time I made this fabric flower that I saw in a magazine.

No se como llamarle pero esta vez hice esta flor de tela que vi en una revista.

The magazine says that this flowers are for hair clips but I decided to make a diadem .

La revista decía que las flores son para hacer clips para el pelo pero decidí hacer una diadema.

I like it because looks discret, not like those huge flowers that are in vogue now.(you know, at my age with those flowers.....)

Me gusta por que se ve discreto, no como esas enormes flores que están de moda ahora. (ya saben, a mi edad con esas flores...)

Keeping the sewing tools

First, this post is inspired by Pauline's blog - fat connection- . And this is how I keep my sewing tools.

Primero, este post está inspirado en el blog de Pauline - Fat Connection. Y así es como tengo mis implementos de costura.

As you can see, I'm not the most organized person in the world =p. Here I keep my needles, pins, some basic color threads, fabric markers, a stick for stuffing, scissors and little pieces of laces.

Como pueden ver, no soy la persona más organizada en el mundo =p. Aquí tengo mis agujas, alfileres, algunos hilos de colores básicos, marcadores de tela, un palito para rellenar ,tijeras y pequeños pedazos de listón.

In plastic boxes I keep my normal threads (yeah,it's a mess) and embroidery threads

En cajas de plástico tengo mis hilos normales (si, un desastre) y mis hilos de bordar.

and more plastic boxes! with the uncommon things I need for other things like seashell buttons, snaps, those things for keychains (what's the name?), etc.

Y más cajas de plástico! con las cosas no comunes que necesito para otras cosas como botones de concha, broches de presión, esas cositas para llaveros, etc.

and finally my buttons! I keep them in glass jars by color, size and number of holes.

Y finalmente mis botones! los tengo en frascos de vidrio por color, tamaño y numero de hoyos.

that's it my friends! I would love to see how do you keep your sewing tools!

Some of you wondered about the health of my mom. She is fine and not. According to the results of her analysis, there is something wrong with her liver but she thinks it's nothing and no longer wants to continue going to the doctor. I tried to convince her but she said angrily that I must not get into her bussiness. So I decided to set aside and let herself realize her mistake. How to help someone who doesn't want help? my dad says "you shouldn't mourn someone who dies by her own fault" ....
Finally she is fine, but sometimes gets sick and it seems that is about to realize that she should go back to the doctor.
Thank you SO MUCH for your concern!! I've been very happy with your mails and messages n_n.
Algunos de ustedes se preguntaban por la salud de mi mamá. Ella está bien y no. De acuerdo a los resultados de sus analisis, hay algo malo con su hígado pero ella piensa que no es nada y ya no quiere seguir yendo al doctor. Traté de convencerla pero me contestó enojada que no me meta en sus asuntos. Así que decidí hacerme a un lado y dejarla que se dé cuenta de su error. ¿Cómo ayudar a alguien que no quiere ayuda? mi papá dice que "no debes llorar a alguien que muere por su propia culpa"...
Finalmente ella está bien, pero algunas veces recae y parece que está a punto de darse cuenta que debe regresar al doctor

I missed you so much folks!! My mom was sick (still she is), then I got sick and I couldn't make many things I like. But I'm better now and I made this plush cat following instructions from a japanese book ^^.

Los extrañé mucho!! Mi mamá estuvo enferma (aún lo está), luego yo me enfermé y no pude hacer muchas cosas que me gustan. Pero ya estoy mejor y aproveché para hacer este gato siguiendo instrucciones de un libro japones ^^.

Pay It Forward

Sometime ago, I read an initiative in Pauline's blog, Fat-connection, where she proposes to make a "chain of good will", yes, as in the story we all know, but instead of favors are handmade gifts. How cool is that?

She began with this on 2009, and now my turn has come! , so, here's the guidelines:

1.- I will make three handmade gifts for the first three people who comments on this post. (I will ship internationally, even if you're in timbuktu...juju)

2.-I have 365 days to do it.. but don't worry , I want to complete this mission as soon as possible!! (let's say...3-4 months, or maybe less, who knows =p)

3.-You must have a blog (it's the only way to make sure that you will do the same! O_O)

4.-of course, you must be willing to do the same for other three pleople! (remember your honor!)

that way we hope that this chain will grow up more and more! XD C'mon pleople, let's share the good will ^_^

Yep, make those yoyos can be addictive O_o. Recently I found this tutorial, wich explains very clear how to make them.

Sip, hacer esos yoyos puede ser adictivo o_o. Recientemente encontré este tutorial que explica claramente cómo hacerlos.

I realized that fabric stores bring imported fabrics more often, especially american cotton .They're a little expensive T_T but they sell out very quickly!!

What I've done

First, I like that linkin park song ("what I've done").
Second, sorry I didn't post anything the last week ¡_¡ .

But I made these little pouches to sell

and these "box pouches" following this tutorial. The orange one, is the original size from the tutorial. For the black one, I've added 1.5" because the original size is a little small for my purposes.

The black has interfacing and the orange don't

I don't like the look of the inside because all the sewings and part of the zipper shows up, so I'm looking for other way to do it.

Right now I'm doing yo-yos with the yoyo technique, I'm addicted! I will show you next post XD.

Yup. today is the "Dia de las Madres" (mother's day) here in my country... so I want to wish a happy day to my dear readers who are mothers.

Today I will share with you the story of one of the moms in my house (the other is my own mom of course =p )

Muza was a very lovely cat.One day she got lost for three days, and when she came back,she brought a little surprise..:

five cute kitties were born, and they grew quikly

Sadly we could only keep two of the kitties, Muza was a little sad but happy for being with her two daughters: Pelos and Minimiú

now they're a happy family!

well.... not exactly, they sometimes fight each other u_u...

Some japanese books

Thanks to a friend of mine, I was able to bought these cute japanese books!! Jo suggested me to post about them ^^

The title of the first book is "cat design cute goods", of course is the title that the seller put in the item,I don't know if the name is the same in japanese.

It contains a lot of cute projects with cats included!! You know me, I love cats, that's why I bought this book.

The second book is "kawaii cute felt goods".Many projects with felt

I decided to bought it because of those super cute pincushions!! XD

The third is "Japanese traditional needle work" .

All the projects are just beautiful! ....BUT....I think I'm gonna be troubled with this book, because the instructions aren't clear enough like the two previous books,besides, the projects looks gorgeous with those beautiful japanese fabrics... u_u

I already made two little projects! XD

I just love them!!! ♥_♥

Ejem, as I was saying, I LOVE spring!! I've born in this season and everything smells to spring now!! *_*

The things I like the most abut spring are

Strawberrys!! (cost=1kg x usd$1)

Season's fruits =9

Mango (cost= 1 kg usd$1.2)

Flowers! (of course)

(they're for free =D)

I would love to celebrate easter like in the US, with bunnies, eggs and chocolates but here, we "celebrate" (I think is not the word, but... oh well...) in other ways , it's more a spiritual thing. I'm not saying I don't like it but I don't have sweet memories of this kind of tradition.

I can only remember me, standing under the sun, listening to the Father saying incomprehensible things to me at that time, in an "via crucis" which my mother took me once u_u.

We called this week "semana santa" (holy week).

Yesterday was the "domingo de ramos" (palm sunday).Many people went to the church, to bless their palms. Many merchants offers their craft palms.

This is called "crossed estructures" bookbinding. I like it because you can do a lot of variations.

Esto se llama encuadernación de "estructuras cruzadas". Me gusta por que puedes hacer muchas variaciones.

I made it with this pink leather, the sewing was a torture.. >_< La hice con esta piel rosa, la costura fué una tortura >_<

And speaking of tortures...look at what my sister did to me!!

I'm not much of this girly things, my sister is taking a nails course and she needed a victim, I must admit that looks nice BUT (yeah, the great but) I can't do anything!. I can't draw, I can't cook, I can't type in the laptop (well, I can but very slowly) and what's worst: I CAN'T SEW!!! ¡_¡, for that reason, I will remove them tomorrow u_u.

No soy mucho de estas cosas de chicas, mi hermana está tomando un curso de uñas y necesitaba una victima, debo admitir que se ven bonitas PERO (si, el gran pero) no puedo hacer nada! no puedo dibujar, no puedo cocinar, no puedo escribir en la laptop (bueno si, pero muy lento) y lo que es peor: NO PUEDO COSER!! ¡_¡ por esa razón mañana me las quitaré u_u

Let's make a drawing

Que oondaa!

This time I wanna show you how to make a simple drawing with coffee. I know I know, this kind of things doesn't need a tutorial but a little explanation doesn't hurt uh?

What do you need?

-water
-paintbrush
-a little piece of cloth
-godet
-thick paper. preferable fabriano 200 gr. or something similar
-1 teaspoon of soluble coffee (of course)

Here we go!

First, add a few drops of water in the coffee previously placed in the Godet

Divide the coffee and add more drops of water to make it clearer. You can work with three tones: dark, medium and light

ready to work!

make a simple sketch with pencil

Begin adding the clear shades. You need to visualize where the shadows and lights will be.Use the cloth to remove the excess of water

Add medium and dark shades...

and finally it's time to begin the inking! (well... I like to ink my drawings but you can use your pencil) I use this technical pen filled with sepia ink XD

and this is the final result

that's all! It's quite easy!! please try it, I would love to see your creations n__n. Was difficult to write these instructions in english O_O, if you find mistakes, please tell me, that way I can improve my english to write more tutorials!

since it's filled with rice, it can be used as a pincushion too!

I think the rabbit is prettier than it should have been O_o. I'm totally satisfied with the chesire cat, with that huge and naughty smile.I was inspired by a image of the book, with the cat hiding behind the leaves.

Pienso que el conejo es más bonito de lo que deberpia haber sido O_o. Estoy totalmente satisfecha con el gato de Chesire, con esa enorme y traviesa sonrisa. Me inspiré en una imagen del libro, con el gato escondiendose detrás de las hojas de los árboles.

I made three designs of Alice and finally I decided for this. Don't you think she looks like "Clara Seseman" of the anime Heidi? (except for the apron of course).
Well... I hope the girls likes the things I made ^^.

I'm not so sure about the name of these, I've seen in many blogs they called it "charms" but, I'm a little confused about this word, please somebody can tell me if the use is correct?
In spanish, we called this things "llavero", (keychain) or "colguije" (a small figure that you can hang out anywhere).

No estoy muy segura del nombre de estos, he visto que en muchos blogs los llaman " charms" pero estoy un poco confundida con esta palabra, alguien podría decirme si su uso es correcto?

Well, the fact is lately I've been anxious to do these things *_*. I made this for my BF, I was inspired by my cat (Pelos) who that day was sleeping with her tail wrapped around her belly, jeje.

Bueno, el caso es que ultimamente me han dado muchas ganas de hacer estas cosas *_*. Hice este para mi novio, fuí inspirada por mi gata pelos que ese día dormía con su cola enrollada en su panza, jeje.

since long time ago, I liked to buy notebooks for writing or drawing. I have bought many varieties and sizes. I simply love these things! I have one for dreams, one for travels, one for thoughts and another for my projects (yeah, I know, I'm a freak -_-u)

Desde hace mucho tiempo, me ha gustado comprar libretas para escribir o dibujar. He comprado muchas variedades y tamaños. Simplemente me encantan estas cosas!! Tengo una para mis sueños, una para viajes, una para pensamientos y otra para mis proyectos (si, lo se, soy un "freak" -_-u)

One day I saw a japanese bookbinding course and it caught my attention. I took it and I loved it! Since then I kept taking courses and I have already learned several things but I'm still a rookie.

Valentine's earrings

Today I made this earrings following this tutorial (thanks Jo!) .

I must say that was a coincidence that I had the paper because it's very difficult to get it. Here in Mexico is almost impossible! but I have some contacs, you know...jujuju >D. Well, the paper is just beautiful as expensive. If you want to know more about this great paper, click here.

well.... later I was thinking about make more earrings... but this time with fabric!

So, I drew a heart in two pieces of fabric (about 5 cm each side)

and I sewed it attaching a little ribbon in the top, then turned it out and filled it with stuffing.

It's easy!

maybe they're a little big? (I like small earrings)

This time I wanna show you my stash. It's a little small but I think is decent for make some cute things =p

You see something repetitive?

Yeah! I must confess! I LOVE flowers fabrics ¡_¡ they are just beautiful. But desings of animals and nature are my favorite too (ah, and dots jujuju ^^)

My stash grew this month with some "donations" from my mother and boyfriend. I bought some too.

This is my favorite fabric for now.

I like it so much because the print is very clear =D

Speaking of wich, I like cottons and natural fibers. In my country there's some decent stores where you can buy a great variety of fabrics.I realized that imported cottons are pretty good but we have a few with the same quality but the desings are childish.
One meter of good mexican cotton cost usd$3.5 approx.
Cheap cotton usd$1.5, and
American cotton usd$6.5
This is an example of how much it cost the fabric in my city. I would like to know how much it cost the fabric in your city ^^

Here I am again,my trip was very relaxing and educational. I saw many interesting things about people and traditions.I was in Oaxaca, a beautiful state where my Dad born.
I ate a lot of things, I saw a beautiful scenes of nature and realized about the importance of the simple things in life ^_^.
I'm eager to learn new things and know more interesting people. I hope this year brings good things for you too!

Little pouch and little presents

I made this little pouch for my sister, who loves rabbits.

And finish the fabric bags I mentioned in a previous post. I filled them with some candies.

these bags are for an orphanage's children. My aunt told me about them and she's organizing a toy's donation with her friends. But what kind of Christmas would be without candies? When I was a child, the candies were one of the best gifts I had received. Hope they like this little present ^^.

In other news, I'm going to travel for vacations with my family and I'll be back in january 6th, so this is a little good bye!

I can only wish you a MERRY Christmas and hope you have a nice time with your family and beloved persons! n_n

a few days ago I went to walk in the middle of the city, to a avenue called Reforma.In the mexican folklore, it's a tradition to put a "nacimiento" (literally Birth), made of different materials wich represent the Jesus birth .There were many of them, but this was my favorite.

Few steps over, there was a lots of piñatas wich is a clay container filled with candies and fruits. Is decorated with cardboard and paper of many colors. The tradition says the piñata must be a seven-pointed star wich represent the seven capital sins and the stick for break it is the "power of God". Well...now the piñatas have different forms like bugs, famous tv characters, cars,etc.

later the nigh falls and the "most bigger christmas tree in the world" was switching-on (or so they said)

Busy days

Last friday, my boyfriend bought me these beautiful fabrics *_*. Now I'm thinking what can I do?

I was so happy because lately I had no money ¡_¡ . He has been a great support to me since I quit my job and always supported my "creative stages" jujuju. First was jewelry, then bookbinding, painting and sewing now ! (god, how much money have I spent?!).

But before I digress , I must finish some things, like this colorful scarf (the yarn is another gift from him ^^)

And the most important thing, these little fabric bags for some gifts that I'm planning to do

Gosh, my back is killing me! (mental note: get up every half hour to rest >_<)

My first patchwork

I just finished this patchwork furoshiki following this mairuru's tutorial. I've never did nothing with patchwork but I wanted do something and here is it.

But what is a furoshiki?

Is a square of fabric about 50-60 cms and can be used in many ways.I use it as a lunchbox and when I go to the grocery store for few things. Here an example:

Put the things you want to wrap on the furoshiki's center

Then do this

and the other side

and finally tie up the ends with double knot

Here a page with other examples.This is a great idea for use fabric instead of plastic! PLEASE try it!

Jealous Cat

the past few days,I made these cat collars with cotton fabric.

Two was for my boyfriend's cats,choco and moky. I stitched a bells on them because they love it and also I embroidered their names.I hope they like it ^^

I made one with ribbon for Minimiu, my cat who goes crazy with bells.She seems to like it n_n

but somebody wasn't happy....

I didn't made one for her (Pelos) because she's always rubbing on the dirty earth and besides is very naughty!! Maybe later, if she behaves. ¬¬x

Yeah, this time I have a terrible flu that make me feel like my brain is dripping through my nose >_< ,argh.

Anyways, I can't stay in bed then I made this wallet, embroidery by hand.

It's a fox running (or something like that ^^)

And i made this cell case too....but it turned out kinda simplethe black fabric was cheap but inadequate for this purpose

Maybe I should buy more of this buttons, they look good as eyes!

Gift wrapping ideas

Why buy a expensives boxes or paper bags to wrap a gift this Christmas when you can make it more cheaper and customizable? If you're short of money, this can be a good option, and will be more appreciated for do it with your own hands! ^^

Cut a piece of fabric, I use jute this time.It can be as bigger as you want but it's better for small gifts. Fold it in half (this will be the size of the bag)

and start sewing one side.....

....and then the other side...

you can cut the border like this:

Finally tie it with a strip of the same fabric or thick thread
and that's it!.Easy n_n

Day of the Death

Today is the day of the death, a festivity full of color and flavors where the souls of the children "visit" their relatives the night of the november 1st and the others do it in the next night.In those days, people put an altar with elements that have meaning and purpose but specially, the food that was favorite of our dead.

This time I visited a little town near my city called Tepotzotlán

They put many altars, mostly made for the children of elementary school.

I loved this colorful sugar skull!!

and this tiny altar (there was many of them)
Is said that you must guide the souls of your deads with candles and cempasuchitl flowers. They put fruits, food, photos, sugar skulls,pan de muerto (a bread with bone's shape)..even toys! if the altar is a for a child...¡_¡

In the cementary, people clean the graves and their purpose is stay the night and eat tipical food in honor of their deads. It's a way to share love with them.
